When it comes to fashion, what happens to color once we become adults?
Vibrance is a sign of life and youth. But once we become adults, we seem more inclined to communicate our “youth deficit” by wearing stale and monotone colors. It’s not as though our love of vibrance and youth and color disappear. Clearly not, we still dress our children in the brightest colors we can find. But at some point, rainbows in our wardrobe no longer works.
Maybe we’re indulging in our childhood fantasies by putting our kids in colorful costumes. And maybe we’re not entitled to “feel old” because we’re essentially assigning that feeling to ourselves through fashion?
